It's Now the Older Girls Turn

Last but not least it's the older girls, Addie and Jane's turn to stay at Grandpa and Grandma's house.  We didn't lack for things to do infact we didn't have enough time to do all we wanted to do.  We started off with a little project of making pajama pants.

Then we made "cinnamon knots" to take to Jane's neighbor.  Jane went fancy with the frosting.

Addie whipped that frosting on like a pro

Then Grandpa recruited them to go gather the eggs from the chicken coop.

My girls are back from the barn now it's time to bring on the games.  Check out the hat.  John Daniel brought that hat back from the Ukraine on his mission.  John loves that hat in the winter because it is so warm.  

After several games and sparkling apple juice everyone got a little silly, it could have been because it was getting late.

After a full day they nestled down in their new sleeping bags.
 They did't want to sleep downstairs alone so grandma slept on the couch.  

I was a little more creative this time with the girls and made chocolate and white abelskivers with sausage.

Now back to the pajama pants.  After cutting them out the day before we started to sew them together.  Both Addie and Jane were great on the sewing machine, I believe they will be very good seamstresses as they grow older.

My goal was to keep them away from all electronic devices including the computer.  I did pretty good until they each had to wait for each other on the sewing machine.

They were both very careful and exact and they loved the machine

For lunch they went with grandma to the "blue lemon".
Grandpa was at work but we sure would have liked him to come with us.

The girls brought their dolls so then I decided to get all of Jessica's "American Girl" doll furniture out of storage so they could play with them.  I know I'm a grandma but playing dolls is a blast.

Then the girls then created a "beauty shop" with their dolls.  Actually Addie for Christmas got the "My Salon Doll"  It is amazing. Addie can style hair like her mother, it was fun for me to watch.

I loved having the grandkids over the holidays.  Sometimes it takes the holiday for you to slow down enough to do the important things with children and grandchildren.
